This book contains some great colour images of the Class 50 through to the time of being withdraw from service, to preservation.

Keep those 50s rolling

Although now long retired I just had to buy this book. Based at Saltley we got to train on these engines when they were moved south from the west coast. We worked on them to Bristol and Paddington. I can still heard their engine ticking over and smell that acrid smoke when shunting into the tunnels at New street, it certainly made your eyes water. The final weak field would drop in at 80 and my word wouldn’t they go. Managed to get 112 out of one through Slough, a 47 wasn’t in the same league. Regards Ledg.

Looking back at class 50 locos

Excellent book, photos from a variety of locations. Mourning the demise of the class 52 Westerns, the class 50 became a worthy substitute for my affections, this book does them proud.
