Workhorse is not a bad word! It means something does exactly as it is intended with no surprises. This pen is exactly tgat! I can carry it anywhere and know it will work.

Great starter but no heft

As with almost all the elements of a fountain pen, your opinion of them is idiosyncratic. I prefer pens with heft and are well balanced. This is a very good pen but certainly lacks heft.
