This machine delivers a very smooth cut to board surfaces. i work with most hardwood species and the cut is consistent for all types. I’m trying to eliminate snipe on the board ends and find it to be a challenge. I’m making very small cuts at low speed and provide “up” pressure, by hand, on the end of the board entering and exiting, but the snipe is still evident. I know this is a “reality” for all planers so it will always be a factor in leveling/smoothing/sizing lumber. I bought this machine to replace a Dewalt 735 because of the helical cutting feature. I like that ability to have 4 carbide cutting edges on each blade segment. If part of the blades get compromised, because something was wrong with material being sized, you only have to change/replace the cutter blade segments in that 1 small section of the helical cutting shaft. I didn’t like the 90 degree chip evacuation fittings supplied by FBT so I came up with a different plan.
