Blown Away!

When my 20 year old Echo backpack blower finally died, I searched for a replacement with a combination of high speed and high volume of air movement. The Schröder SR-9900X is every bit that blower. The larger diameter tube puts out a bigger wind front that easily moves wet leaves even as the pile you are moving gets bigger. I can clear my yard, which is in a mature oak forest, at least twice as fast as with the older Echo and use much less fuel. The quality of the Schröder is the best I’ve seen and the harness is top drawer for comfort and support. It has a chest strap that connects the two shoulder straps (something I added to my old Echo) and a “belt” strap that distribute the weight of the unit to a larger area, greatly reducing muscle fatigue. It also has a strap that connects to the wand that makes it so you’re not having to hold it up with your arm. Instead, you’re only guiding the tube, not lifting it. When I opened the box I was puzzled as to why it came with an extra pull rope/recoil assembly. But when I first tried to start it up, I think I figured it out. My guess is that a lot of people pull the rope quite hard and with a long pull only to find that it’s a geared mechanism that only needs a short easy pull to get the same result as a long, fast, hard pull. I didn’t measure, but it’s like a 10 inch pull creates the same amount of engine rotations as a 3 foot pull on my old unit. The result is a much easier startup. All in all, I’m completely impressed and extremely happy with my choice.
