I set both the regular and decaf grinders to pull measurably identical shots (by weight / volume) with a single setting on the Puck. It’s at max depth in a 20g basket with 18g coffee, though. It completely removed one of the finicky variables — tamping — and as long as I grind and dose consistently and make sure the machine is in the right phase of its heating cycle I can get greater consistency than ever before. Which means I’ve been able to get better results (after some experimentation). Also means other people can use it easily. It’s a really effective upgrade.
