OVER THE MOON
I am over the moon about my last minute purchase. After a dismal attempt at growing seedlings, as a last ditch effort, I ordered Buttercup seeds and direct seeded them in grow bags. Tossed them in the dirt, covered and forgot them. It seems like within days I had strong plants growing like crazy. Bright, firm yellow male flowers sprung from no where and shortly the females arrived. I hand pollinated some and left the others to bees that showed up attracted by the flowers. I am really impressed by the strength and firmness of the leaves and stalks. As I mentioned I threw them in pots, often among previous failures. They quickly became the stars of my garden, lime green at first and then becoming a rich, healthy dark green.I don't know if I have ever used the word "hearty", but they are robust and hearty. Every morning a dash out to see what has hatched overnight, what changes in color, size, or shape. I don't even care if I consume them at this point. They have provided a feeling of success and visual delight beyond my wildest imagination.
