Resilient and productive
Manitoba has done quite well for me in Newfoundland. I started them indoors, under plant lights, in April, and began bringing them outside to harden in mid-June. They started producing in early August. April was too early and I upgraded the plant lights halfway through their indoor cycle. The abrupt change freaked them out, but they fully recovered after a few weeks. Currently, they're still producing and happy. Mine are growing in a variety of different containers. They prefer five gallons and up. Ten gallons appears ideal. Three gallons is stressful for them.

Reliable and prolific tomato variety
Based on my experience, Manitoba tomato plants are reliable and productive. The fruits themselves are smooth, flavourful, and great for slicing. This year, a single plant produced over forty tomatoes, most about 60-100 grams size. While Manitoba is reported to be an early-season variety, in my garden the tomatoes ripen closer to mid-season.
