Kathy - K3 Mango Grafted Tree

Not quite as expected but actually better…

I ordered the 3 ft 3 gal of this plant and was expecting a typical young-ish plant that was still pretty thin. What I got was a thicker trunk than expected and it looked like the top had been lopped off fairly recently. Even though I was expecting a younger plant, having an older more mature plant works better for me since I prefer to shape my mangos starting on the shorter side. Also, since the trunk appears to be an older plant, I'm excited that it could fruit sooner. After about it a week or so, the buds near where it was lopped down to, started poking out. Now, roughly 2 weeks after receiving, there are around 7 branches that are working on growing and now I just need to decide which branch of those to keep lol. I did find that the new leaves, to me, kinda look like ”bubbly” which is kinda fun, compared to new leaves from my other mangos plants. Pic added for arrival vs today.

Decent size tree and I am happy with that… it did just look like they had cut off some major branches on top that were black ( rot?) And it has one little branch growing but I’m sure it’ll lead out again in no time.
