ORANSI 650A portable air cleaner

The Erik 650A seems to operate as advertised however it's hard to tell in-as- much as with central air there is a steady influx of outside air bringing in all the aerosol "contaminates" in the area in real time. There is no portable air cleaner that can keep up with a large central air unit. Of course if one were to close the central air vent is say a room such as a bedroom and keep all ingrest/egress sources closed, then the 650A would probably clean up the air in that room and keep it very clean, buts so much for your air conditioning or heating if one were wanting to use these functions. Your best bet here is to close the main furnace vent to your bedroom and turn the 650A to an intermediate speed (noise) and you will get a good night's sleep. One other issue is the lack of any decent documentation from ORANSI. We have 3 large HEPA units throughout the house and they regularly need cleaning at the "precleaning" element and I notice the 650A is starting to collect the same buildup on the air intake. I am not persuaded the 650A can go 10 years without some sort of PM. In any case the 650A is a serious piece of equipment but not inexpensive and I am not sure how practical any portable air cleaner can be if you have central air without some equally expensive inline filter at the outside air input. Excellent well made air purifier!

Love the high quality machine, big plus made in USA. Very Simple and easy to use. Used it during quarantine when our family got the COVID virus. We also used it in our kitchen when when cooked. We replaced our filter with the V-Bank Carbon filter on ours.
