I’m not a competitive fly fisherman and I find the U series of Umpqua hooks a terrific value. I have been fly fishing and tying flies for over 25 years and have never lost a trout off a U-series hook.

Fashion & function

Rarely if ever have I been asked for a review of a hook, but here goes. It’s a hook. Works as advertised. It hooks stuff, like fingers, pants, trees, bushes and fish with ease. Tying dubbing, feathers, tinsel & chenille onto this hook can really make a big difference in catch rate. It is hard to put live bait on this sucker, but I’m sure if you captured a trico and put it on this hook it would likely be lights out fishing. Whitefish love this hook so much, I saw one wearing the hook as a nose ring. Be it fashion or functionality, this is the real deal.

Great strong hook but I don’t love the barb over all the fished well!
