Phenomenal Service, Brand Brilliance, Farm Smell Triggered Allergy, Blissful Finish!!
Service: Foremost, I would like to acknowledge and thank, Jesse from the Fullerton Avocado location. Without his unbelievably exceptional service I would have not made such a substantial purchase with Avocado mattress. If I could create an absolute blueprint for what customer support should exemplify at the highest level it truly would be Jessie. As an individual who likes to take my time and feel into the somatic and sensory input of my body, especially when making such a significant decision like a new mattress, I have found many sales professionals, lack the emotional intelligence to pace with and tune into client need. From the moment I came in contact with Jesse, he was supportive, available and completely unintrusive. He gently made his presence known only twice, during my lengthy inventory process while testing many mattresses by merely checking in to see if I had any questions, remaining on standby and recognizing my agency to discern what was best for me without any input. Following clarity relative to my purchases, Jesse patiently and thoroughly answered all of my questions with ease and clear communication. During the days that followed my visit, he meticulously responded to every single question, provided links, alternative options, photographs and truly attended to my every need. I can honestly say he made everything beyond seamless and so much easier for me. As if that wasn't enough, he accomplished all of this with exemplary kindness, professionalism and even a bit of humor. His authenticity and commitment to the standard of excellence are truly evident and shine through. Product: Upon entering the doors of the flagship location, I absolutely fell in love with the Avocado brand. I could immediately feel the purity and authenticity of the product. From the very first moment, the company's vision and purpose was clear and recognizable. I took great time to select the mattress that best synergized with my body. I surprised myself settling on the Avocado Green mattress in firm which had the perfect embodiment of structural spinal support with understated soft comfort as I typically gravitate towards ultra plush, padded comfort. I love the cotton tufting top layer, it's visually stunning. I decided I truly wanted to give the mattress itself the opportunity to stand alone, however, in time, if necessary would consider purchasing the two inch dunlop topper given it increased the comfort significantly. I also fell in love with both the molded latex pillow and the avocado green pillow. After much deliberation, I decided on the adjustable base and added in the matress protector. Delivery: Jesse left no stone unturned providing remarkable service throughout every touchpoint of the process. White glove delivery was effortless and Jesse provided additional pickup of the bed frame. Post launch analysis: After deeply anticipating this phenomenal new mattress, I was shocked and profoundly disappointed to discover the extremely intense farm animal-like scent that permeated not only the bedroom but part of the house which gave me an instant headache. I cannot overstate its intensity and it instantly left me questioning if I made the right decision. I immediately began airing out the mattress in a well ventilated room with several fans and three air purifiers. When that didn't appear to make a dent and the scent remained unchanged, I employed bamboo charcoal packs, diffused lavender aromatherapy and baking soda. The odor strongly continued to linger for three days to the point where I could not even bear to enter the bedroom nevermind consider testing my new bed. My joy was definitely deflated and I considered contacting Jesse for an early return. It wasn't until I surrounded the bed with fresh ground coffee beans, opened the doors and windows day and night and ran the other odor clearing methods continuously for seventy two hours that the farm animal smell faded enough for me to enter the bedroom. On day 4, after dressing the mattress with the new avocado protector and luxury eco friendly organic bedding, I tested the mattress. That night as I was falling asleep I began to experience both itchy eyes and face and woke coughing, gasping for air and the sensation of my throat closing. Devastated is an understatement, I was left very confused because I had been sure the matress felt right when I tested it. After taking a break for several days to restore my sleep from the stress of the situation, I tested the mattress yet again. This time I woke up with sinuses draining, felt like I was getting the flu and coughing until I gargled with sea salt and raw honey, once out of the bed, everything stopped. It was pretty clear I was having an allergic reaction. The following day, my spouse and I had an intuitive hunch. Given the avocado mattress protector, which contains cornstarch has an extremely heavy, thick material that feels like tarp and also emits an intense smell, we questioned if it was responsible for the allergic reaction. Hence, we began undressing the bed and removing the mattress protector. As I was folding the mattress protector, my arms started to itch intensely followed by immediate red bumps covering my arms. Even though it was not ideal, it left me very hopeful, that perhaps this mattress could work out after all and the protector was the culprit. Although the farm animal scent still lingers almost two months later, it is quite minimal and can only be detected when my nose is right by the bed or when sniffing the mattress protector directly. In addition, I air the mattress weekly, with fans to keep it in prime condition, place a cotton fitted sheet underneath to trap any scent, then add a bamboo waterproof protector, a luxury bamboo mattress pad and sheets, with organic bedding. The firm mattress definitely takes a little time to soften, however, there's a noticeable change within a week. My body is still adjusting to this new firm support. I'm extremely grateful I trusted my internal guidance with the adjustable base as elevating my head several inches when sleeping has been an absolute game changer. After sleeping on the molded latex pillow, I encountered a terrible neckache and opted to return it along with the mattress protector. Given, I sleep best with a contoured pillow for optimal neck support, the avocado green pillow will be used for decoration or as a body pillow only. It's a very cozy, cushioned pillow and although I won't be using it under my head or my knees, it's a comforting pillow to hold. It's worth mentioning, both pillows were aired out daily from 8 am - 8 pm for over a month and still retain a faint earthy, latex rubber scent. The verdict: My journey with avocado was extremely rocky, however, I am very happy I stuck with the process as I truly do love my bed. I remain in observation mode throughout the warranty period taking great care of my product and continuing to observe that this bedding is ideal for me. I have full faith in the integrity of the Avocado brand and I am grateful to have found a product I truly trust. I highly recommend Avocado Mattress.
