Pre-Built VHS Transitions

PRE BUILT VHS TRANSITIONS

I tried using pre-built VHS transitions in my edit, and overall they were useful, though not exactly the look I was expecting. They definitely add a nostalgic, analog-style texture and can help speed up the editing process, especially when you need quick visual variety without building effects from scratch. That said, the aesthetic felt a bit more polished and digital than the raw, gritty VHS feel I originally wanted. Because of that, they didn’t always blend seamlessly with every clip. However, with some tweaking — adjusting opacity, blending modes, speed, or layering additional noise and distortion — they can still be shaped into something more custom. The quality itself was pretty solid. The resolution held up well, and there were enough variations to keep transitions from feeling repetitive. Overall, while they weren’t a perfect match for my initial vision, they’re a practical and versatile tool. I can see myself using them creatively in future projects, especially when I want to add retro character quickly and efficiently.
