Works, but screen defective

I used a Lavatools Javelin Pro Classic for years without issue and really liked it. I accidentally broke it (my fault) and ordered a replacement through Amazon (where I bought the first one years ago). It came with a defective screen - weird little spots and symbols showed up on the LCD display. The thermometer still measured temperature, but I exchanged it for another. The second had the same issue, and I returned it. Finally, I bought the same model straight from Lavatools, hoping it was an Amazon issue. Unfortunately, the Lavatools order was *fulfilled* by Amazon, and yet again the LCD was messed up. I gave up and bought a different, more expensive brand.

Malfunctioned

The degrees kept changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius while I was using the device. I had to open the back and try to reset it while I was in the midst of cooking. I couldn’t always rest easily as the location to the switch was not easily accessible or visible. After three troublesome uses, I threw it away. My conclusion is that the design and quality control was lacking.

Great kitchen tool

I have used the digital thermometer numerous times already. It gives me confidence that my foods--especially meat and chicken-- are cooked properly. Thank you!
