What a relief this pedal is…
I thought I would be a whimp if I used feedback protection, but when playing out, it seemed the Feedback Demons would plague me wherever I played.
I tried using an EHX noise gate, but I was not able to tweak it correctly to work with my harp rig - either too sensitive or not enough gate. It is made for guitars, after all. Sold it about a year ago.
I toughed it out for a while, then, 2 weeks ago, after a nightmare show of squeeling no matter where I stood, and not able to turn up the amp enough to be cut thru the band, I came home, got online, bought the Harp Shield. Which I should have done years ago.
I just used it (1st in the pedal chain) a couple of nights ago, and I was able to turn my amp (Stage5 - only a 5 watt amp) up to cut thru w/o a problem. Woohoo!
I like to have a lot of dynamics in my playing, and the Harp Shield did a fine job of opening the gate even at my really soft passages. It required very little tweaking to get the gating right. What a relief! I could move around the stage without fear of becoming the iconic feedback-squeelin’ harp player.
Yes, LWB makes some good pedals for us tin sandwich blowers, and this noise gate is really deigned for us. Cut my feedback problems by 90%. It does not give you great tone, but if you already have great tone, now your audience can actually hear it. Thank you, Randy! This is a must have if you play out…Highly recommended.

Harmonica Feedback Problem Fixed
My harmonica feedback problem is much improved. I couldn't be happier with the Harp Shield. Exactly what I needed.
