Presumably it's hypoallergenic, as the primary reason for purchasing it is one of the kids seems to have an issue with the plated or coated types. And it is very nicely made. But be aware that it measures 38mm, NOT 42mm as described, however this is actually a plus in my instance, as this measurement fits the chin rest I used much better. And for those who care about weight, it's very light, weighs only 6.6 grams according to my digital scale. But I gave only 4 stars because is NOT gunmetal grey as described above, it's "Bright" in appearance, and also according to the label on the packaging that describes it as the new "revised version". This wouldn't necessarily be a problem (I think most people will prefer the change) except I also bought the titanium Hill fine tuner to match it (just as a fun splurge) and it is actually still gun metal grey and most decidedly does NOT match. Rather disappointed, as I'll now be returning that.
