I have used different types of mutes over the years, and until now my favorite was the one that attaches to the strings between the bridge and the tongue and slides up to rest atop the bridge. I was shocked to hear the muted sound of this Tourte mute. You can still hear the harmonics and overtones, just as if it was not muted. It is most effective as a practice mute to reduce the instrument volume without a drastic reduction in tone quality. I am very pleased.
