Utility jacket sewing pattern

Loved the process, loved the result

I have a decent amount of sewing experience, but not with patterns. I had never attempted anything like this before - no zips, cuffs, pleats, plackets, or facing. The instructions and diagrams were very clear, and I had little trouble following them. The pockets took me a while to understand, but the example pictures helped a lot; I did make a couple of mistakes when inserting the zip and assembling the cuffs, but that is down to my own inexperience. I also struggled a bit with joining the lining to the main garment, but I figured it out pretty quickly. Be sure to read the instructions carefully, look at the diagrams, and think things through! The fit is excellent. I can raise my arms and stretch in all directions, and my movement is not restricted at all. The only nitpick I have is that I would have preferred it if the sleeves were lined, as well as the body. However, I was able to work something out myself by making a set of sleeves with the lining material and integrating them into the garment. Overall, a great pattern that I know will become a staple in my wardrobe.

Project completed

I am pleased with the final result. The fit is great. It was quite complex as there are so many pieces and took me some time to get the zip in correctly. I have learnt quite abit - mainly to really read the pattern instructions correctly.
