Fuse glass grinder bit

I put the glass grinding bit on the shaft just to see how it fit and aligned with the glass (I have not ground any glass yet). I assumed it would use the existing base for the glass to ride on but nothing lines up using it. The bit doesn't go low enough, so I would need about an 1/8 plate to have the glass to ride one. I am not sure how to use the straight part of the bit. There isn't enough length of the shaft to raise it up. I can turn it over, but I will need a supplemental table for the glass to ride on; and I think this compromises the seal between the shaft and motor. At this point I haven't ground any glass. I don't foresee that as any problem and the grinding by itself should be a 5 star. Please advise about concerns.
