Prompt delivery and, considering it was during the holiday season, I was impressed with how quickly it arrived. The product was exactly what I expected and wanted. I've always had excellent service from Farthingales.

An important compendium of historical works

Over the years I've been able to collect many of the texts that are compiled together in this particular book, but for someone who doesn't have the ability to do that, this book is a nice sort of "encyclopedia." I've given a few copies out to current and former students, trying to at the least encourage them to start their own libraries. What is additionally very nice are the author's comments -- whether one always agrees with them or not -- which are in many cases not only helpful, but enlightening, such as his mentioning Nino Cerruti's use of the seamless jacket back and how to go about the necessary iron work in making one. Although it's not everything there is to be found or had on the subject, it's a great place to start, and quite accessible. After this, one can obtain the DVD available on eBay from the U.K., 135 RARE MENS TAILORING BOOKS ON DVD, which is a compilation of historical tailoring books, and have fun with it!

Love the book, but......

A chunk of pages in the middle of the book were in backward and upside down. (235-258) I carefully pulled them out, put them right way, and gently glued them back in. Not what you want to do with a new book, but I thought better that than to have to pay to return it. As to the book itself, it is very thorough, and I have already been able to incorporate some of the techniques. I have his other two books as well, so I knew it would be a worthwhile addition to my collection. (I suggest you take a look at other copies, Farthingales, in case the printer made a mistake in more than just one book.)
