The Great Candycopia

Disappointed

I’m a long time S&S fan, having been eating it regularly since you first came to Los Angeles in 2014. I loved it so much that I gladly made the 2 hour round trip journey weekly to get my fix. Then became a regular of the Studio City location when it opened. Ever since then, Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache and The Great Candycopia have been my two favorite flavors. Not only because of the high quality and pure ingredients used, but also S&S has always (up to now) been VERY generous with the good stuff…the almond brittle and the ganache in that flavor, and the various homemade candies that go into Candycopia each year. I now live in Florida, and while I’m disappointed that I don’t have a scoop shop close to me, I have S&S delivered regularly. I was so excited and looking forward to this year’s Candycopia so much so that I even ordered 18 pints! However, upon opening the 1st pint, I was extremely disappointed. You could see, and was confirmed as I went through the entire pint, that the generous mix-ins of the past have now been reduced to mere tiny pieces (I would even describe them as specks) and the good size chunks that used to be prevalent are very few and far between. I would estimate there is maybe 20 to 25% of the amount of good stuff in this version of Candycopia that has been in past versions. While you may be able to fool new customers, long time customers like myself aren’t fooled. I’m sure part of it is just the reality of inflation and doing business in today’s world, but it is noticed by this customer. Well, it’s still a darn good ice cream, it’s just not as crave-worthy as before. I will not be ordering such a big quantities going forward if this is the new Salt and Straw. Believe me, I don’t like to write these words but I’ve been such a huge supporter for so long that it warranted bringing to your attention. I look forward to a reply from a human soon! Best flavor 10/10

I wait all year for this flavor - the only thing that would make it better would be gluten free….but I’m willing to suffer the glutens for this amazingly delicious ice cream once in a spooky blue moon. Great combo of creamy, crunchy, chocolatey, salty. Drooling waiting for next year!

Candycopia (and Salt & Straw) is amazing

Candycopia lived up to the hype. Probably the greatest pint of ice cream I've ever had. Amazing balance of different candies - the ice cream base is a perfect flavor, and there's a great crunch in every single bite.
