Very smooth casting reel with no backlash. The line per handle turn on the 300XS is 42.9 inches (awesome retrieve speed for a small reel). Overall I would rate this an excellent buy for the money. Light weight, compact and very sturdy reel. I haven't owned it very long but feel confidant that it will provide good service.

Got this for my flipping rod .A G Loomis GLX flipping. This 300 size reel is powerful it is not as big as a shin Mano 300 reel I own . Diawa 300 is just right you can still palm it comfortably.used it last winter in Florida Ockeechobee and Headwaters it proformed excellently l am buying another for large crank baits rod that way l will not wear down so fast. .great reel just go ahead get it!
