Good thigh braces

I originally ordered the more extreme version of these thigh braces for my Valley Nordkapp RM, but found that it was a bit of a squeeze getting in and out. I was worried that this might make wet exits and rescue re-entries tricky. I exchanged them for the more moderate version, and this worked fine. They were very easy to install. The material these Valley thigh braces (and hatch covers) are made of is notorious for rotting away catastrophically one day, possibly inconveniently, but that is life in the world of Valley kayaks. I was very pleased to be able to buy these UK-made items in the US.

Poorly Designed Valley Product

Kayak Academy is a wonderful place to do business with. Therefore this negative review about these poorly designed Valley thigh braces does NOT reflect in any way upon this wonderful kayak store. Rather this negative review targets only Valley Kayak for marketing such a poorly designed and overpriced kayak thigh brace product. Even though this Valley product is so poorly designed, I am grateful that the Kayak Academy carries these braces since they are the only usable braces I can find that fit my Valley Nordkapp. These braces are manufactured from the same garbage that Valley hatch covers are made of, and over a short time the brace material deteriorates exposing the molded in wing nuts. The braces then merely fall off. One must then cough up a whopping $60 for a new pair of the same junk braces. Unfortunately I can find no aftermarket replacement that will fit my Valley Nordkapp. With the above stated, the Kayak Academy remains one of my favorite places to shop for paddling gear. I can offer only the highest accolades for Kayak Academy.
