Scott Rao writes that bean size is more important than altitude in determining how much heat to apply in a roast. This inexpensive, precision tool lets home roasters like me accurately measure the size of my greens. It also is a tool for measuring grind size for different brewing methods.

I am rather enjoying the consistency of this tool! I use a pro-sumer quality grinder and with the Kruve grind size reference tool I am able to chart subtle changes in my beans over time. Also handy when dialing in frozen beans. If you are a person who wants to use maths to understand what is happening in your cup, this tool will give you a baseline from which a good menu of repeatable recipes is doable! Highly recommended this tool. And!! TOTALLY AFFORDABLE. Love that👍
