Amati Would Have Used These!
As always, my customer experience with Fiddlershop was an 11 out of 10. Traditionalists gasp when you bring up geared pegs for violin or viola. Why? How long have they been on guitars? I have arthritic hands and tuning my viola has always been both a PIA and a deterrent to just picking it up to practice for a couple of minutes as I pass it in the hallway. Now, with these geared pegs I can have my viola in tune within about 90 seconds. It's so easy; why would anybody oppose it? Visually, you can't tell the difference between these and ebony pegs until you're within inches. And, these allow you to eliminate your fine tuners for better sound quality. Very highly recommended.

Had to try different sizes to find the right fit
I originally bought the largest available Wittner geared pegs for violin, but they were still too small for my son’s violin. I was reluctant to do anything too drastic like bushing the peg holes. Then it occurred to me to try the viola pegs. I had to go with the 9.2mm and they fit perfectly. I used a 2 deg (1:30) reamer to lightly clean out the peg dope and grime from the holes, and the pegs pressed in just fine without the need for any adhesive. I appreciate fiddlershop letting me return the original violin pegs I bought for just $5 to cover return shipping.

Great tuners!
I installed these myself. It's so easy, even a caveman can do it! One just has to go easy on the reamer and make sure you don't overream any hole. They are really great at tuning the violin. After installing, one does not need tuners on the G,D & A strings on the tailpiece. Actually, they are so fine in tuning one may not need an E tuner on the tailpiece but I kept mine anyway.
