Tinny, staticky sound

This 135 dollar earpiece is significantly worse than a ten dollar import one. I thought my earpiece could be better, and wanted to buy American, but I lasted two hours into my shift before I went back to my old cheap earpiece. I used a custom ear mold in both, but I was barely able to understand radio traffic with the Safariland earpiece. Not what I was expecting for the price, but no returns on earpieces.
