Three boards deep and a Hydrus customer for life
My Hydrus story started last year with a Joyride XL. It was my first paddleboard and my introduction to SUP on East Tennessee rivers. That board hooked me completely, and it didn't take long before I was researching whitewater-specific boards to start charging Class III+ rapids. During that research I was already in contact with Hydrus. Angela responded to every one of my email inquiries — promptly, thoroughly, and with genuine care. She connected me with Jason, the owner, on multiple occasions, and that's where my experience went from great customer service to something I didn't expect from any company, let alone a paddleboard brand. Jason took the time to share his personal story — how he and his brother founded Hydrus together, and the heartbreaking loss of his brother in a drowning accident. That conversation told me everything I needed to know about why this company builds the way they build. This isn't just a business for Jason. It's a legacy. He walked me through the difference between their Armalight Air construction and the industry-standard PVC that most inflatable boards use. I was still comparing options at the time and ended up purchasing a competitor's whitewater SUP first. But the moment I unboxed it and felt the PVC construction in my hands, I remembered exactly what Jason had told me about the difference in materials. I knew immediately it wasn't something I wanted to ride down a Class III rapid. I returned it and ordered the Axis 98. No regrets — the build quality is exactly what Jason described. But it didn't stop there. I called Jason again when I started looking into a solution for floating rivers with my 115-pound German Shepherd. He took the time to talk through my options and I ended up purchasing the Party Board as well. Three Hydrus boards deep now — and the best part is I've got enough boards to bring my friends and family out on the water with me. That's what this sport is really about, and Hydrus has made it possible. This is a family-owned company that genuinely cares about their products, their craft, and the people who ride their boards. Angela and Jason — thank you both for making this the kind of buying experience that simply doesn't exist anymore. Five stars. Without hesitation.

A rugged family board that can handle whitewater, flat water, fishing, and swimming.
Very happy with my purchase so far. I am impressed with the build quality. I also have a handful of Starboard inflatables and one Badfish. The quality of the materials and seams, are a big step up compared to early iSUPs. It's nice to be able to get the young ones on the board so we can experience the water together. Looking forward to purchasing a Hydrus hardboard.
