CATCH-A-TROUT & SALMON

I fish on a stream in Southwestern VA. It is a pay to play "trophy" trout stream. The fish are usually 4-8lbs. I had never used roe sacks and wanted to try them. I ordered some prefab units, prepared trout roe, two types of preservative and your #1 catch-a-trout&salmon bait pockets. None of the prefab stuff worked. We caught a female full of eggs Monday. Monday night we filled six of your bait pockets (two of each color) with fresh roe. Tuesday we tried the pockets. In the fast water, the eggs were all smashed by the fourth or fifth drift, In the slower deep pools, we caught crayfish with the roe sacks. Clearly, we are rookies with the pockets. Next spring when we return, we will try again. Others fishing the stream using the pockets with local roe caught fish.

I haven’t used them yet. Hopefully I will get the chance next week.
