A Beautiful Idea That Didn't Fully Land
Apollonia is one of those fragrances that feels almost poetic in concept. Inspired by the moon landing, it carries this quiet, celestial elegance—something airy, weightless, and refined. On paper, it’s stunning: a soft blend of white flowers, powdery orris (iris), and clean white musk designed to feel luminous and ethereal.
And in many ways, it delivers exactly that—just not in the way I expected.
The opening, for me, was surprisingly sharp. Instead of the soft, floating introduction I had imagined, there’s a brightness that comes off a bit piercing at first—almost too clean, bordering on sterile. It settles down after a while, but that initial impression feels at odds with the otherwise dreamy concept.
Once it smooths out, Apollonia becomes much more beautiful. The iris comes through as powdery and elegant, and the white musk wraps everything in a clean, almost skin-like softness. It’s minimalistic, refined, and undeniably high quality—very much in line with Xerjoff’s reputation for luxurious compositions.
But where it really fell short for me was longevity.
For a fragrance at this level, I expected something that would linger and evolve throughout the day. Instead, it stays quite close to the skin and fades faster than I’d hoped. While some sources suggest it can last for hours depending on skin chemistry, it didn’t quite perform that way for me, feeling more fleeting than memorable.
In the end, Apollonia is undeniably elegant—clean, airy, and quietly sophisticated. But between the sharp opening and the softer-than-expected staying power, it feels more like a beautiful whisper than a lasting statement.
If you love subtle, skin-scent fragrances, you may find it enchanting. But if you’re looking for projection and longevity to match the price and concept, it might leave you wanting just a bit more.
