I’m a bartender and it’s increasingly popular to have these types of gags behind the bar when it’s a little slow…the mere possibility of a “Free Drink” from a $5 scratch off is like cat nip to ppl with the gambling spirit. Even if a beer already cost $5, there is something much sweeter about winning it off of a ticket. I hate to make it sound like I’m scamming people out of their money, I am merely trying to come up with creative ways to make tips and entertain my regular customers. I always explain this to them and they know it is a gag, and I wind up giving them many free drinks anyway!
