1983 Strat Elite saddles

I recently had the misfortune to have a saddle on my 1983 Fender Stratocaster Elite break whilst changing the strings. The bridge (FreeFlyte tremolo) and saddles on this model are different to all other Strats, and this model was only produced from 1983 to 1987. After checking with local Fender stockists and after market suppliers here in Australia it was apparent that no-one stocked these saddles, and Fender no longer produce them. Eventually I found Graphtech, who make replacement saddles for this guitar, and ordered them. When they arrived I fitted them and carried a full setup, ie truss rod adjustment, action, intonation and pick-up balance. These saddles are different to the original, being made of different material. and they make a difference. There is noticeably more sustain and the sound seems brighter than with the old saddles, but bear in mind it was at least 12mths since the last time I gave her a full setup. I play a pretty high gain sound and Friedman Little Sister and BE 50, so the extra sustain and brightness are really noticeable. I am VERY happy with these new saddles.

Stratocaster Elite saddle repair

I fitted these today as replacements of the original saddles on my 1983 Stratocaster Elite following the failure of one saddle. They set up easily, tuned up well and seem to sound really good, nice and bright with plenty of mids.
