S4S Walnut Lumber - Thick

Excellent Walnut

This thick walnut was straight, true and square with sharp edges and very nice grain pattern. I bought some thins as well (walnut, paduak and maple) and all were excellent quality.

Ok, not great.

For this price - I would expect clear lumber that is mostly heartwood. Of the 5 pieces I received more than 50% of the boards were sapwood. At least 2 of the boards had their entire face as Sapwood. Yes there is a time and a place for sapwood, but i assure you when we are buying S4S Walnut, we do NOT want sapwood. It should also be of note that the ends of the boards had checking cracks. I had high hopes for KJP, but I don't think I can order from them again.
