This heating tape is intended for small 'scopes (e.g. guide 'scopes), eyepieces, and similar-sized optics. I bought it for keeping the 'scope's rear tube-camera connection above the dew point as in high humidity conditions, I have had condensation occur on my camera's chip window. So far, it seems to be working satisfactorily. I also have one on my 120mm guide 'scope and it, too, is functioning well. The heater seems to be fairly efficient in that it doesn't need a lot of current under normal conditions. Wrapping an extra cloth around the tape helps to reduce heat loss on those rather cold nights, though, when any heater is struggling to keep glass warm enough.
