Covington - 18" Flat Lap Grinder

This 18" grinder has been great so far

I had my coldwork area all prepped before this arrived, so getting it installed and up and running has been pretty easy and quick, and uneventful. I was able to be productive very quickly and appreciate having a grinder like this. I went for the variable speed option, as it give you more control, and wastes less cerium oxide during polishing. In addition, it can spin in either forward or reverse, which extends the life of your disks as they get used and worn from both sides, and not just worn on one side. Ordering from Kiln Frog was a good experience, and the unit arrived a little less than 4 weeks later (the shipping estimate was 4-6 weeks), so they beat that by a bit. It feels well-made and well-engineered. I plan to use it for many years... it has already sped up my delivery times and made the coldworking process much easier. If I had more room, I would have gone for the 24" model, but I was working in a small footprint so the 18" model is workable but wasn't my preferred choice. If you can, get a bigger unit which will make things even easier.

VERY sturdy, solid grinder

Crated well for shipment, arrived in perfect condition. A great size for grinding the bottoms of my blown glass.

Rock solid

This heavy dust lap grinder works great. Love the variable speed, 18” size for bigger pieces, and heavy duty build quality. Highly recommended.
