A Different Flavor Profile

This was the first time trying this supplier. We were not expecting such a salty version of this condiment. Since it's the aromatics and fragrant pungency which is the prime element we seek, the excess salt detracts and you may have to alter your recipes accordingly. This product actually lists "salt" as the second ingredient! You may want to obtain a small quantity to test prior to ordering a larger stock.

Make Your Own...

Most commercial spice rubs contain more salt than any other ingredient, per the content label, so I make my own with Aleppo pepper, ground garlic, smoked salt, cumin, ground onion and, occasionally, chili powder, paprika, and/or mustard powder. I use Aleppo pepper because it has milder heat (than cayenne) and wonderful fragrance and flavor. You can adjust the amounts to suit your taste.
