Red Sunset® Maple Tree

Very well packed and in perfect shape. Nice size with leaves on it. However, first day I planted it the deer chewed it in half. Hoping it will recover and grow.

Thriving Well In 100 Degree Weather

The Maple tree I ordered is doing amazingly well! I watered the hole several times before I actually received the tree & I think this gave it a great start! The temps were over 100 for the first full week I had it, but new growth appeared within a couple days. However, Fed Ex held it on their truck for 2 days & I worred about that. If it's on the truck & out for delivery, Trees. com should make sure they deliver it. In the end, it was fine. It's going to be a wonderful tree through the years, I believe.

Excellent support from planting expert

The visible portion of sunset maple arrived in excellent condition although the rootball was rather loose. The soil fell away when I removed the tree from the pot, leaving entwined, very long feeder roots (2 feet long) which were already girdling. The planting expert guided me in how to gently straighten the roots out like spokes on a tire and anchor them in the soil. I had to dig trenches to accommodate the length of the roots but got them securely in place before back filling the planting hole. I used the stake kit I’d ordered from a previous tree purchase which was perfect to anchor my new tree while the roots get established. The ‘canopy’ per se is in great shape with just a few crispy leaves on the tip from its travel time in the box. All in all I’m very pleased with our new red sunset maple!
