Great tempeh started!
First time trying to make tempeh, and this starter worked great!

This starter worked great at at the normal recommended dosage.
I paired this with their dehulled organic soybeans, because I'm a bit lazy about dehulling. The starter worked great and the Tempeh was ready in my incubator in just over 24 hours. This worked much faster than the weak starter sold on Amazon for 3 times the price that comes in tiny little packets.

Fabulous tempeh starter!
We tried some tempeh starter from another company and it was useless, with 4 tries it didn't produce a single cake of tempeh. We the discovered Revolution Fermentation and on the very first try from their precise recipe, using 1 tsp of starter as recommended and 475gms of dried chickpeas, we had great success in obtaining slightly over 1kg of tempeh in 3 packages. On the recommendation from the very helpful team at RF, the next batch was made with 1/2 tsp and again excellent success within 36 hours. As you can see from the image, we used a seedling heating mat on insulation, connected to an Inkbird temperature controller set at 30C to control the ambient temperature, and also a remote temperature sensor in the middle of a cake. This set up is on a raised rack off of the heating mat, and the whole set up covered with a cardboard box until the temperature in the middle of the cake reached 34C. We then removed the box, turned off the heating mat and let it continue to ferment with its own internal heat, until it was ready...then popped it in the fridge/freezer. We don't have a conventional oven, so ingenuity had come into play :) We recommend without any reservation this wonderful tempeh starter and the excellent service from Revolution Fermentation and wish them all the best in their business.
