Yosemite National Park 1955 Map

Beautiful map with nice visuals

In my early teens I joined in on some backpacking trips up beyond the valley just a few years after this map was originally made and wanted to trace some of the old spots. This showed a lot of them I had forgotten but names like Vogelsang brought it back. Google Maps together with this one showed where the trails are, This map is also nice for showing the parallel Tuolumne Canyon and Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, which provides water to some of the Bay Area. Other feeder rivers show up well too. Overall you get a much better understanding of the 3D geography of the region than you do from Google Maps or even from topographic maps - although they all work together.
