98.5 Dodge 2500 Cummins with Cluster issues, starting issues, No ECM data on scanner
I sent in my ECM to GOECM for repairs, I had a numerous number of issues with the 98.5 Dodge Cummins. After engine was warmed up it would at times give me a hard start issue. Crank and Crank before it would start. Oil pressure sensor was reading fine which will also cause this issue. Got a call stating that they found no evident issue with my ECM but suggested it could be internment issue. With that information, i went ahead and had them send me a new ECM. I installed the New ECM and ran pickup. I feel that the pickup runs smoother, the long crank before start issue seems to be resolved, but I'm still not getting any ECM data to my scanner thru OBDII port. The Gauge Cluster is still blanking out after pickup is warmed up to temperature. All gauges fall to zero readings; the odometer starts flashing code sequence still. I'm not saying that this was a bad deal on my behalf still freshening up the ECM even though the problem doesn't seem to lay there. You figure 30 years almost on original ECM that has lived through Freezing temps, Hot summers, and the vibration of the Cummins. I feel it would be a matter of time before it would be an issue. Least now I know with a Fresh ECM from GOECM and their Lifetime support for investing into their ECM I will be trouble free for the life of this pickup. Onto the PCM to see if that is the issue.
