This is a replacement for my N55C that I broke in October. The original served me well in the rough Alaska outdoors. It was light and quite sturdy. I was taking comet pictures and found the weak spot by accident. The tripod was blown over when I removed the camera to do a lens change, and it found the only rock in the area. The ball head attachment point has a plastic plug that is glued into the central shaft. It broke in the single digit temperature. I don't fault the design. It had served well before I used the tripod without a ballast weight in a frigid windstorm. I did notice one design change over the years, however. The leg pivot locking tabs were metal on my old one. The new one has plastic tabs that may not be as durable as the originals. I removed one star for that. It may, or may not, be an issue in the field.
