True story - The clock was winding down on a tracking session where the house U47 we were using for drum overheads sounded a tad too noisy to be useful when we switched it over for vocal duties. Having no time to troubleshoot the noise issue, I swapped the 47 for one of the e22s mics that were set up in the vicinity for close drum recording. Though the e22s is a great mic on its own- with the Chop Shop patched in, I was able to get the vocal sound I wanted in literally under 3 seconds with just a few turns of the focus ****. It was so much faster than fooling around with something like a Pultec would have been given that there was almost no time to spare to dial anything in. With the Chop shop, I have absolutely no sonic regrets about the U47 not being used. The EQ is a lifesaver!
