Perfect Pattern

I had used another free pattern that did not work out at all. This pattern was so easy to work with and instructions very clear.

I grabbed these because my knee is broken, and if I can’t skate at the moment, perhaps the dolls should, lol. Overall, they are really cute and the dollies are happy to wear them. I liked the idea for the blade construction, and it seemed they would be sturdy enough, if labor-intensive, but I opted to have my son 3D print some and just glued them on. There were just a couple of reasons I gave 4 stars instead of 5. They were very loose on my dolls (mylife/our generation), which I understand is because their feet are smaller than true AG dolls. It would be great if patterns could at least acknowledge the significant differences in foot size between brands, or include a statement like, “This pattern is designed for dolls with feet that are 2.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide.” Tips on adjusting the fit would be a bonus. The other thing was just a construction issue. The pattern instructs to do the decorative stitching on each body piece before sewing the front seam, which would be ok if you have really good control and your seam allowance is perfectly accurate. Mine wasn’t, so the stitching did not line up when the boot came together. Next time I think I’ll try sewing the two pieces together first and then top-stitching. Overall, I’d definitely recommend these skates and plan to make them again!
