5/8" Bowl Gouge

First Glance Screams Quality!

Even though it's just an unhandled gouge that I haven't had a chance to use yet, it has a look and feel that's a step above all other brands I've used to this point. One "premium" brand (I won't mention his name) I bought last year is/was sort of a disappointment. The right wing has a slight groove in the flute, which makes a small dip in the cutting edge, no matter how you grind it. I get the feeling his black nitride finish is just an attempt to hide sloppy workmanship. This Carter gouge is very different. It's very smooth and shiny on all surfaces. This is clearly the product of people who really care about making your turning experience the best it can be, not just snagging your money. I can't wait to use it, but I need ot make a handle first. (I shouldn't have been so cheap and just bought one)

All of Carters and sons Tools are of the best quality and Come very sharp and hold a great edge through out all the use of turning ! Joe

Another Great Carter Tool

I have replaced a number of the woodturning tools with which I started turning with Carter tools. The quality difference and ease of use is astounding, including my latest tool, the 5/8 inch bowl gouge. This gouge is well made, razor sharp and with the 20 inch handle is well balanced and easy to keep in place on the blank. Carter tools are consistent in quality. I highly recommend Carter Tools.
