I've used Blackwing pencils exclusively (as an academic researcher) for that last 6 years, and I will not use another willingly--the smooth leads, the great feel and heft, and that ferrule is so cool. Among them the Pearl is my particular favorite, adding its sheer beauty to the other qualities of the Blackwing.

Fantastic pencil

Well worth the money if you use and appreciate a great quality pencil. The pearl is a but softer than the 602 but doesn't have the tone variation. Overall, a well made blackwing..as expected. Will definitely be keeping these stocked in my pencil cups!
