So likely it was the probe for us

We bought the roaster so long ago - perhaps 15 years? - and other than the flapper door needing repair a long time ago, there were no issues. However, it suddenly would not heat. We emailed with the service department several times trying to determine what it might be. They kept answering, but never really did guide us as to what it likely was. So, we decided to go with a new heating element, temperature probe and a new fuse (fuse was because we were ordering anyway). We didn't use the fuse, but replaced the other items and we were back to roasting our coffee again. Bottom line, be sure to keep the screws separated by area and just go for it!

Part is working fine

My roster was acting up and the temperature shoot up much higher than the set temperature. After communicating with Gene Cafe, it was determined that one of the temperature censors is bad. I got the replacement part fairly quickly. I put it into the machine. The roaster worked fine for most of the roasting process until the last two minutes when the temperature shoot up to over 900 degrees. I had to unplug the machine for force it cool down. The machine was sent back for repair. I would assume that the problem is something else other than the censor.
