My Brussel sprout seedlings are up and happy. I just potted them into 4" pots. I live in Tamalpais (Tam ul PI us) Valley, in California's coastal zone, and we are very close to the SF Bay. cold and foggy with late afternoon sun these days, and typical for us to not get our warm weather until Aug/ Sept. In the past, I tried for several years to grow Brussel sprouts. The plants grew fine, but didn't produce any "sprouts". The problem is that our nurseries don't carry the starts early enough for them to mature and still have enough time to actually produce sprouts. They also don't carry the seeds, so that is why I came to you. I finally figured out that I need to start them much earlier!
I am a retired landscaper, and has been quite a few years since I last grew a veggie garden, because we have become a gopher paradise, apparently, and they are everywhere. This year we installed some raised beds with gopher and root exclusion (redwoods have very invasive roots!). We are very concerned about our farmers and food reliability. Although it is not cost effective in the first year, we plan on using it to supplement our groceries from here on. I selected Renee's seeds partly because you are west coast, and organic.
I appreciate your follow up and interest! This confirms my instinct that you guys are top notch and really care about your people and product! Thank you!
