What’s with the belt loops?

I bought a pair of Nantucket Red shorts. They look good, they’re very well made and they fit great, but the belt loops are all about 1/8th” too small. I can’t wear any of may favorite belts with these shorts, they won’t fit through the loops. I’ve had to break out an old, narrow belt to wear with these shorts. I’ve never encountered anything like this before. I washed the shorts before I tried them with a belt. Otherwise, I’d consider returning them. Overall, I recommend the shorts. But don’t get rid of your narrow belts just yet.
