Pathfinder Survival Blanket

What a surprising disappointment.

This Pathfinder Emergency Blanket must have changed from all the previous glorious reviews because the first one I received shipped in a thin, clear, throw-away plastic bag siimilar to what a head of lettuce is wrapped in...no case or zippered pouch or box. While the side grommets are a nice adition, they are poorly finished with too many sharp uneven edges to be ignored. Its has a thin, cheap and shiny olive surface that is crinkly and noisier than all get out. Sounds like radio static in a wind. All this and yet somehow manages to be heavier than an Arcturus to boot. It is described on the website and retail box as weighing 12 ounces/340 grams. But this is false. The actual weight is 19.75 ounces. I called customer service and spoke with a very concerned and helpful fellow who immediately entered an order for a replacement which I received four days later. Customer service gets full marks. Unfortunately, while the replacement did come in the retail box (also claiming a weight of 12 oz) it still has issues. The grommets are rough and just not finished well and the corner grommets are reinforced by bending those corners over itself instead of just reinforcing the corners with fabric. It is a little less shiny and crinkly but still weighs in at 19.25 ounces. If I can, I'll be returning this as I would never take this with me to the hills. Maybe a garage sale. Maybe. Hard to believe SRO sells this given their otherwise high standards because what they sent me is now just an overpriced inferior product. The Strongest Survival Blanket Available? Hardly. I understand Dave Canterbury is a busy man and also an honorable man so there is definitely a QC and misleading marketing issue that needs to be addressed. Not what I expected from SRO/Pathfinder School

This is a heavy duty survival blanket. This will probably hold up to the wind.
