if I was using channels this would have worked fine. I cut it so size and it worked well enough, but my style lends to soil.

I’m new to growing microgreens but I have to say this medium is wonderful to grow in. I’m growing radish, turnip and mustard in it and they took off so FAST! The roots dug into it beautifully and went right through this medium. It holds water well as long as you soak it before you start. It also has a bit of stretch when wet so if you didn’t cut it perfectly you can still get it to fit exactly into your trays. The roll gave me 62 pieces to fill 1020 trays!

Grows well, but took awhile

I am a novice at growing MG, and have not experimented with any other growing mediums. The jute seemed cost effective and so I gave it a shot. The jute held water very well and I got good initial growth but the true leaf stage took so long that the middle mats in my 10x20 trays started to get brown. Keep in mind - my inexperience with growing. This could have nothing to do with the jute and could be from a number of variables. I used the jute with one tray of Broccoli MG and one tray of spicy salad MG. From lights to harvest was 18 days - was this too long or the average? Not sure. Still researching.
