Exquisite crock!
I've had the smaller 2L crock for a while. These are beautifully made pieces. The 4.5L is much easier to fill and empty and the weights are easier to get inside with the larger opening. I didn't know if we'd go through enough sauerkraut to benefit from this size but for two of us, given the fermentation time, this is great! Roughly two cabbage capacity! Depending on your cabbage!

FERMENTING CROCK - WITH LOTS OF USES
I love this Crock. I'm using it for the first step in my Olive harvest process. It's a great size and the design works well for initial processing of olives, before putting in jars. I'm able to lift it and work with it, with ease. For anyone interested in using it for olives, process 2kg in each of the pots with 200g of coarse sea salt diluted in water. Don't try squeeze anymore in...you won't get the ceramic weights in. LOL I tried 2.5kg - too much! These pots (I have two) also look beautiful sitting on the kitchen bench...being a neutral colour, they will go with most decors. I will try other fermenting techniques, once olive harvest is over. Got two more trees to harvest. Very versatile pot. I noticed this second pot I bought is slightly different in size, so I weighed them and there is a difference, but the volumes are the same. (I had to weigh them, because my scales sometimes turn off before I'm finished, and I have to do a manual calculation). :)
