I just used regular tap water and probably should have used distilled water because the water continued to get milky/cloudy. I put a few drops of bleach in the water when I was finished using the vases for the holidays and stored the water beads. Otherwise, it is a good idea. Depending on your backlighting, you can definitely see the water beads, so just be aware of that fact. They are not truly "invisible".

Confetti

I purchased floating confetti in black and gold. The color bled from the gold confetti and changed the color of the water to yellow. Also, the confetti is difficult to work with because it sticks together unlike the pearls.
